My friends recently took me to a fascinating restaurant in Rockville called The Vegetable Garden. I’m not crazy about fusion food, but this place had such a diverse and unique menu. They specialize in vegan, vegetarian, organic, and macrobiotic cuisine. What I liked about it was that the menu was huge and diverse, yet the dishes were substantial. The dishes are Asian inspired (although they also have hamburgers and french fries), but are not organic, vegan, macrobiotic takes on typical dishes. Also, although they have a lot of faux meat, this was easy to avoid. Many of the dishes were original and curious, like General Wilmington’s Shoe. They serve brown rice and everything is served with a curious dry brown bread that tasted to me like it must be vegan and contain some sort of sesame. In addition, they have a juice bar with a variety of juices.
