Become a Writer for Us

I had originally planned on completing the project solo, but graduate school and its financial and time limitations have caused me to broaden my scope to perhaps you! I am looking for fellow ethnic food eaters who may be interested in tackling some of the countries we haven’t tried. There is, sadly, no compensation – aside from having your writing featured here (and a credit to you, of course). Email ethnicfoodproject@gmail.com if you are interested.

Requirements

• An entry written in the style of our posts – meaning that it provides
  • An overview of the restaurant (ambiance, price ranger, service, menu, etc.), although not in an attempt to critique the food, as we’re trying to convey the experience rather than become food critics
  • An overview of the culture, history, and food, as is necessary. For countries with wide diversity – such as India – a brief summary is fine. If the culture and the food are intertwined, you might explain this. Similarly, this section can discuss influences, tastes, spices, etc. For a big dining experience, the entry might be long. If you’re seeking a particular food – i.e., the Cuban Sandwich, the entry might be shorter. Most importantly, it should discuss how the restaurant matched with information found online (i.e., was this a legitimate place?)
  • Citations to websites you’ve referenced. Wikipedia and the internet is fine. There is no MLA/APA exam. Just so people can get to the information you found
• A restaurant in the Washington, D.C. metro area. If you believe that there are no restaurant options in the area and feel up to creating your own ethnic food party (see Iceland), contact us
• Photos of the dishes you sampled, the exterior of the restaurant, and the interior of the restaurant. These photos should not include you or any of your dining party, but may include other diners
• An address of the restaurant and website
• Tags for WordPress, as applicable
• A total amount for the bill and what was eaten. We try to find cheap eats and moderately priced restaurants, when possible
